Branding on a business-level is common, but today branding is becoming just as important on a personal level. After all, you might work for a business that works with other businesses, but it’s people working with people and that’s what makes business relationships valuable. Personal branding has become an important component in today’s professional business climate and so it is important to note that building a recognizable personal brand opens doors of business opportunities.
Having a full grasp of it’s importance and developing into that person you want to become goes further to attract the right set of people into your business, taking into cognizance your area of expertise or niche. This will in turn make you the go-to person in your niche or industry.
In today’s entrepreneurial landscape, there is no room for being another face in the crowd. You have to separate yourself from the competition. You have to be more appealing to your target audience and you can achieve it by creating a recognizable personal brand.
LIFE ISN’T ABOUT YOURSELF, LIFE IS ABOUT CREATING YOURSELF – GEORGE BERNARD SHAW
HOW DO YOU BRAND YOURSELF?
The main purpose of this guide is to enumerate as much as possible what it takes to build a successful personal brand. Some of the points highlighted may not meet your goals as i believe there are other ways and methods by which you can create an enabling personal brand for yourself. However, here under are my synopsis to building a successful personal brand. We can start by asking the question…..
WHO ARE YOUR REALLY?
Your brand should be a reflection of who you are, people tend to connect with a trusted personality and so it is important you don’t fake who you are not. You just have to stay true to your heritage because that is what brand is all about. Your key to winning in your life is to figure out what makes you different, learning to embrace that uniqueness and using it to get people to pay attention and to choose you over everyone else. The competition for that little space is high, so make yourself standout from the crowd and crush it
HOW ARE YOU RECEIVED?
It’s no easy task building a strong brand, but as you keep scaling up the ladder, you need to understand that your personality is under the radar of so many people, especially those within your niche. Customers, colleagues and even friends are sets of people to consider what they say about you.
CREATE YOUR ECOSYSTEM THROUGH AN ONLINE PRESENCE
Building a personal brand takes time the more reason why you need to up the ante by having a strong presence online using your website at most. As the business climate keeps evolving, you sure would not want to be seen as being inconsistent. The social media is recognized to be a powerful platform to capitalize on building a solid brand by sharing and socializing your valuable content, therefore, having strong social media profiles are what you need to keep in mind as you keep climbing up the ladder. Having a website will help you rank in search engines as this will determine how well you are performing, so you need to be on the edge updating content in your blogs. Moreso, define what your brand stands for, its core values and tone of voice, and then communicate consistently in those terms.
Social media is changing the way we communicate and the way we are perceived, both positively and negatively. Every time you post a photo, or update your status, you are contributing to your own digital footprint and personal brand.
IDENTIFY YOUR GOALS –
You must identify your target market within your niche for your brand. There must be a concise approach in your communication style built around authenticity that your target audience need and want to be able to realize your one true goal, this no doubt comes with being consistent bringing about a recognizable feat with your mission and vision. Narrowing down your focus on your niche will project you as an expert in that field.
YOUR BRAND IS WHAT OTHER PEOPLE SAY ABOUT YOU WHEN YOU ARE NOT IN THE ROOM” – Jeff Bezos
CREATE YOUR OWN NETWORK
While building a strong personal brand, you need to also follow notable brands more established than you. You can literally find them on social media platforms and get to learn from them and create relationship. Make it a habit to attend company events within your niche because that will enhance more exposure for your business. With any business, events can be a key factor in improving business connections, they set the tone to nurture, grow and solidify relationships.
BE CONSISTENT AND REINVEST IN YOURSELF
My take here is consistently give out value and services through your content and communication engagement with your audience. It’s ok to start small and then grow your brand, however, not everybody will reckon with your ideologies but hey it shrugs off after consistently seeing perform day after day after day. There is never an end to educating oneself, so I personally make it a habit to research more to be more and this you can take into good stride to implement towards your brand building. The social media is evolving, so also the way things are done and I am sure you wouldn’t want to be left behind in the trend of things. The goal is to have plan for long term achievement which will definitely suffice if you indulge in these two factors of consistency and educational reinvestment.
DEVELOP A PASSION FOR LEARNING, IF YOU DO, YOU WILL NEVER CEASE TO GROW
Well, like I said earlier, not people will agree with some of the things you believe in so it is normal for critics to appear on your doorstep. How well you handle criticism will go a long way on how professional you are. I’ll suggest you accept it like a pro, observe what is being criticized, learn from it and work to improve on your personal growth.
As you begin a new journey towards aiming to stand out from an already crowded environment, you will need to do things differently with your own unique swag and crush it. Embracing your uniqueness and being passionate about it makes you appealing to people. It makes you appear more valuable than others that don’t embrace their own unique qualities just because they want to be like others.
